Bouchard, Dunaway, Smith
- Back From Hell Neal Smith and Dennis Dunaway regroup again with old Blue Oyster Cult friend Joe Bouchard. By the way is it me or does Joe Bouchard look like Mike Watt? Anyhow I would say this is the best recording this trio ever made since they made their alliance back in the Deadringer days of '89. There are quite a few good tracks on this CD. First of all I don't like the first track "I Want Two" yeah yeah I know what it means but it's too campy for me. Besides that the rest of the album isn't bad. Although it still has a sort of 70's sound to it. Some of the better tracks are 'Vampire Night", "Diner Girl", "She Was A Bad Girl" starts off with an intro from "Blue Turk" on "School's Out" album. "Carnival Toy" and Dennis Dunaway makes a first as lead vocals on "The Real Thing". The musicianship on this album is good and they co-wrote all the songs except for the last track. Ian Hunter also credited as co-writer on four tracks. I do happen to have a bootleg of their concert from Glen Buxton's Memorial III in 2001 an have to say they sound better live. More on this in the bootleg section. |
