Butchering The Beatles:
A Headbashing Tribute "Hey Bulldog" - Alice Cooper The cover art reminds me of Gunther Von Hagen's Anatomical exhibit. First of all this is much better than Sgt. Pepper movie soundtrack w/ Bee Gees & Frampton. Bruce Kulick who has been producing other CD tributes to such artist like Alice Cooper, AC/DC, Ace Frehley to name a few. So you get the idea…Bruce adds metal that really doesn’t defile The Beatles it’s just a heavier version of their songs. Alice Cooper starts off w/ “Hey Bulldog” guitarist Steve Vai, who actually played on Alice’s “Hey Stoopid” album & tour. Guns N Roses Duff McKagen and Mikkey Dee of Motorhead. This would be one amazing band if they ever formed as a group. Alice does a great job of Lennon’s song, of course w/ a kick. Lemmey sings “Back In The U.S.S.R.” w/ John 5 of Marilyn Manson on guitar and drums by Kiss’s Eric Singer. I like Lemmy’s vocals for this song. Winger returns w/ the closing track of “Drive My Car.” I have to say Kip does an awesome job on this song. Some other tunes that I liked are “Lucy In the Sky w/ Diamonds” sung by Queensyrche Geoff Tate & guitarist Michael Wilton. ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons covers “Revolution” and does some damn good guitar work. I also liked King X’s Doug Pinnick version of “Taxman”. |
