"Baby Can't Drive" - Alice Cooper/Nicole
Scherzinger, guest vocals
"Baby Can't Drive" is available only as a bonus track on the
limited edition version being released by Classic Rock Magazine. Entitled
'Classic Rock Presents Slash'. The bundle includes the new Slash solo
album, a 132 page magazine with interviews and photos from the sessions,
poster, and includes this bonus track.
The song itself sounds like an Alice song from his “Eyes of Alice
Cooper” or “Dirty Diamonds” release. Pussycat Doll,
Nicole Scherzinger sounds like a true rocker.
Alice is quoted in the Classic Rock issue “She became the rock
chick of all time on this song.”
Assisting Slash on “Baby Can't Drive” is former GnR band
mate Steven Adler on drums and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Flea on bass.
I previously read the song was written by Alice & his son Dash Cooper.
But on the inside credits it reads written by S. Hudson/Alice Cooper/Nicole
Scherzinger.
The Limited CD package comes as a hard cover book. A little larger than
normal CD jewel cases. Inside is about a 10 pages of credits and photos.
No pics of Alice or Nicole.
The magazine itself has one page of Alice talking about the song. The
photo on the opposite page is super imposed pic of Alice w/ Nicole.
It looks like 2 photos overlapping. Again no candid pics of Alice &
Nicole in the studio or posing w/ Slash.
The whole CD is good you have other artist like Lemmy, Ian Astubury,
Ozzy, Chris Cornell, Iggy Pop among others. Even Fergie’s vocals
are outstanding being backed by a rock band.
There are 4 other bonus tracks that are available through iTunes or
Japanese imports.
Sahara (feat. Koshi Inaba)
Paradise City (feat. Fergie & Cypress Hill)
Chains and Shackles (feat. Nick Oliveri)
Mother Maria (feat. Beth Hart)
Koshi Inaba is the vocalist and lyricist for the Japanese hard rock
band B'z. Also sang on the Steve Vai song "Asian Sky" from
the album The Ultra Zone in 1999.
Fergie from Black Eyed Peas sings w/ Cypress Hill on GnR’s “Paradise
City”which is an iTunes only track.
Nick Oliveri is from Queens of the Stone Age and since ‘97 in
Mondo Generator.
