Alice gets executed not once but 4 times! Starting
at the beginning of the show and through out the concert. Alice wanted
to turn the show upside down. This wasn’t your typical Alice concert
where he sings a bunch of songs and comes out w/ the usual props you
all know & love. Even the songs are arranged out of order. School’s
Out was the opening number then right after that Alice get’s his
head chopped off. This goes on through out the show. Next is a giant
syringe, impaled in metal box and then hanged at the gallows. Now you
know why they say “They keep killing him…and he keeps coming
back!”
The songs are pretty good choice. He brings back a few songs “From
The Inside” album we haven’t heard in a while. Only one
song from latest “Along Came A Spider” release that is “Vengeance
Is Mine”. It’s just a shame Alice didn’t do a whole
“Along Came A Spider” tour. As I said before that was a
very good album and very disappointed Alice didn’t do a full blown
tour. He had all the songs that would make a good theatrical performance
but…Theatre of Death is the next best thing visually.
The CD trys to cram all the songs from the concert on one CD. To do
this they edited certain songs by shorten them or cutting them off to
segue into the next number. This was disappointing. I rather have an
edited version & cut out a few tracks rather than hearing a digest
version of them. This CD I wouldn’t plan on playing often.
Artwork:
The packaging of the DVD/CD comes to you in duel CD case. The cover
is from “Along Came A Spider” promos I guess making the
recording wasn’t a total loss they used some of artwork. Only
problem is the credits and liner notes are in red & white. The red
type is hard to read on a red background. Same goes for the DVD/CD disc
itself. It’s very hard to read. The CD booklet opens up into a
small poster. Same image as the cover w/ the header reading “They
keep killing him…and he keeps coming back!” Below list the
venue and date of the concert along w/ some 2 newspaper quotes Quad
City Times and KC Confidential.
The other side of the poster is a collage of photos from the concert.
Back of the CD case are 4 small photos of the concert w/ song list and
credits.
